WINDS OF CHANGE FOR ARBITRATION IN ITALY
The past few years have brought important winds of change for arbitration in Italy. Firstly, the revision of the Arbitration Rules of the Milan Chamber of Arbitration in force since 2020 (including the introduction of a simplified procedure for low-value disputes). Secondly, the reform of the Italian arbitration law in 2022, in force on 1 March 2023.
Strong winds of change are also blowing in Switzerland with the creation of the platform "Swiss Arbitration", as well as the modernisation of the Swiss Rules of International Arbitration and the revision of Swiss arbitration law in 2021.
The Swiss Arbitration Association, the Swiss Arbitration Centre and the Milan Chamber of Arbitration have decided to join forces to discuss these recent reforms and other relevant topics of international arbitration practice, with the involvement of in-house counsel and arbitration practitioners.
The Swiss reforms were presented in Milan in October 2022.
The recent Italian innovations will be presented in Geneva on 14 March 2023 together with a roundtable of in-house counsel on hot topics in arbitration.
